Product Design Engineer


Overview:

Vital Vio, a biotechnology start-up located in Troy, NY, is seeking an experienced Product Design Engineer to design new products and make improvements to existing lighting products. Additional responsibilities will be the design and delivery of physical systems including but not limited to production equipment, demonstration and test equipment, and product prototypes. This individual will participate on cross-functional team projects spanning production, electrical systems, and business development objectives. Vital Vio engineers and manufactures lighting systems that offer drastic financial and health benefits to customers by removing bacteria from environmental surfaces through safe, continuous white light. We are a small company offering big potential for global markets in a variety of industries. Prior experience with designing lighting products highly preferred. This individual will function within the Engineering Department and report to the company’s Chief Technical Officer.

Prior experience with designing lighting products highly preferred. This individual will function within the Engineering Department and report to the company’s Chief Technical Officer.
Responsibilities:

  • Design, execute and manage internal product designs and prototyping activities
  • Ensure products in development meet UL certification requirements
  • Modify existing product designs
  • Coordinate projects within defined parameters to meet performance, budget, and schedule objectives
  • Create 2D and 3D models, detailed drawings, BOMs, and design documentation
  • Fabricate or source model prototypes, test jigs, and pre-production models
  • Develop products using domestic and international manufacturing partners
  • Develop and manage well-rounded test plans to validate new products and revise design with necessary
  • When directed, identify and source materials, components, and sub-assemblies for products in development
  • Assist with testing including thermal, photometric, water, field trials, and Third Party Certifications (UL/ETL/CE/FCC)
  • Evaluate product design, parts, and processes for cost efficiency and reliability
  • Complete troubleshooting and root-cause failure analysis for product enhancement
  • Incorporate Lean and Six sigma concepts into design manufacturability

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or similar Engineering field
  • Previous work exposure to electrical and lighting concepts
  • Proven track record of success in full product design and launch cycles
  • Prior hands-on experience with product improvements and innovation
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently
  • Minimum of 3+ years’ experience working in professional engineering environment
  • LED lighting experience highly preferred
  • Must have 2D and 3D CAD expertise.
  • Previous experience working with sheet metal, plastics, optics and additional hardware parts
  • Capable of working professionally within both corporate and entrepreneurial environment

Project Manager

Overview:

Vital Vio, a biotechnology start-up located in Troy, NY, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced project manager with strong communication skills to assist with the multi-disciplinary management of product development to successful product launch. This individual will coordinate and facilitate activities for assigned projects while managing product portfolios for internal and external optics. Although working mainly with teams in Engineering, Production and Business Development, this position will report to Vital Vio’s Corporate department and act as an operational liaison to communicate project progression.

All products are LED-based disinfection lighting systems, so familiarity with electrical products (specifically lighting) and engineering processes a plus. Candidate must have prior management experience due to cross-functionality of position.
Product Manager Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the status and development of current and future products, including but not limited to related operations, product manufacturing cycles, and engineering advancements
  • Develop detailed product portfolios for current marketed products and products in prototype phases
  • Complete weekly status reports on managed activities for senior management as well as advise on resource allocation and schedule revisions
  • Attend interdisciplinary department meetings
  • Oversee the product lifecycle of multiple products simultaneously
  • Define and manage independent projects by scope, schedule and budget
  • Identify project risks and dependencies. Provide implementation alternatives to mitigate a project’s risk
  • Facilitate communication between business and technical teams to achieve established objectives
  • Manage all necessary steps for proper Product Release
  • Will oversee and at times generate product documentation for internal and external use
  • Fully understand and track internal activity within assigned product portfolios
  • Responsible for overall vision and plan for Vital Vio products in order to achieve the company’s strategic goals

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years’ experience in project management
  • Minimum Bachelor’s in Business Management, or Bachelor’s in Engineering with management concentration or professional experience
  • Solid interpersonal skills with a proven track record of leading cross-functional teams
  • Ability to understand and analyze complex product development challenges
  • Ability to read and comprehend technical specification sheets
  • Ability to cross project boundaries and work effectively with multi-disciplinary peers
  • Familiarity with different forms of Product Documentation

Manufacturing Engineer Technician

Overview:

Vital Vio, a biotechnology start-up located in Troy, NY, is seeking a mechanically-inclined production technician to assist in the manufacturing of several product lines. This individual will not only prepare and build different stages of assemblies, but generate assembly records, build upon positive external supplier relationships, and order materials within an established supply chain.

All products are LED-based disinfection lighting systems, so prior experience or familiarity with electrical products (specifically lighting) preferred. This individual will report to the company’s Director of Operations who oversees our Production Department.
Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and build electro-mechanical product sub-assemblies and final assemblies in accordance with specified processes
  • Ensure all order specifications are met within full conformance to Vital Vio procedures
  • Generate and record assembly data and documentation
  • Interact with Supervisor to resolve problems and implement solutions
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and organized work area
  • Contribute to process improvements in the areas of cycle lead time, yield, and quality assurance through the application of Lean manufacturing techniques
  • Help company ensure assembly reliability and overall effectiveness of assembled products
  • Assist in the development and creation of demonstration units for tradeshows and in-house product display
  • Research material vendors and freight companies
  • Complete supply chain orders under direction
  • Build positive working relations with external suppliers

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years’ of work experience in electro-mechanical assembly
  • 3+ years’ of work experience in manufacturing environment

Inside Sales Assistant

Overview:

Vital Vio, a biotechnology start-up located in Troy, NY, is seeking an extremely personable and diligent Inside Sales Associate to handle general customer inquiries, follow-through on leads generated, and structure follow-up activity on existing and new customer accounts.

Vital Vio engineers and manufactures lighting systems that offer drastic financial and health benefits to customers by removing bacteria from environmental surfaces through safe, continuous white light. We are a small company offering big potential for global markets in a variety of industries.

All products are LED-based disinfection lighting systems, so prior experience or familiarity with electrical products (specifically lighting) preferred, but not required. This individual will report to the company’s President who heads the Business Development department.
Product Manager Responsibilities:

  • Promptly responds to general company inquiries and provides customer service
  • Lead generation through cold-calling and e-mail using Vital Vio sales strategies
  • Follows up on warm leads sorts by priority, order size, and long-term customer account quality
  • Diligently maintains a CRM sales pipeline system
  • Finds a customers’ need, recommends systems, price quotes, and gives product advice
  • Follows Vital Vio’s Customer Facility Checklist for each customer’s specific job
  • Completes sales order forms
  • Works with new and existing accounts to maintain service excellence
  • Delivers order quotes and generate invoices under direction of supervisor
  • Arranges with Production department to confirm production lead times on applicable products under direction of supervisor and communicates lead times to customers
  • Follows-up on order shipments to ensure arrival
  • Addresses and resolves service concerns, should they arise
  • Assists with online ordering portal via Vital Vio website
  • Assists with company hitting overall revenue generation goals

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Business, Marketing & Sales, or related field
  • Bachelor’s degree candidate in Business, Marketing & Sales or related field
  • 1-2 years’ experience with direct sales and/or customer relations
  • Proven track record of attaining and maximizing sales results
  • Ability to work within a CRM system (Customer Relationship Management)
