Vital Vio, Inc. President & Co-Founder Colleen Costello Named CEO of the Health Care Solutions Company

–Rapidly Expanding Company also announces Vice President for Commercialization–

Troy, NY (July 28, 2017) – The Vital Vio Inc. Board of Directors today announced that co-founder and President Colleen Costello will additionally serve as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the health care solutions company. The Board’s decision concludes a nation-wide search in conjunction with the retirement of former CEO Stephen J. Petti.

“In her role as President, Costello has put Vital Vio on a path for impressive potential growth. Her record of accomplishments clearly demonstrates that she possesses the vision, unparalleled commitment, and industry knowledge to further advance Vital Vio,” said Dr. Irene Hrusovsky, Chair of the Board. “After careful review and analysis, in conjunction with an extensive nationwide search, the Board concluded that Costello is the best candidate as the next Chief Executive Officer to sustain and accelerate Vital Vio’s momentum.”

The impact of Costello’s leadership as President is exemplified by recent announcements of new licensing agreements with Acuity Brands, Inc. (NYSE: AYI), one of the world’s leading providers of lighting and building management solutions, and with VidaShield™, an innovator in fast, continuous air purification technology.  The pace of growth she has facilitated is further evident by the additional products and partnerships now in development.

The company also has expanded its reach beyond traditional health facility markets.  The recent announcement by Duke Athletics that Department officials have added an innovative layer of infection protection for its students and staff by incorporating VioSafe™ White Light Disinfection™ technology into newly built and recently renovated facilities, is affirmation of the potential for growth into these new arenas.

In addition, the company’s VioSafe™ White Light Disinfection™ technology, designed to safely and continuously kill germs on indoor surfaces, was honored as the 2017 Gold Award winner in the Healthy Lighting category, by the internationally renowned Edison Awards™. The distinguished awards, inspired by Thomas Edison’s persistence and inventiveness, recognize innovation, creativity and ingenuity in the global economy.

Costello cofounded Vital Vio in 2013 to address the costly global challenge of infection prevention after a personal family experience with the problem. She has been featured as a Forbes Magazine 30 Under 30 recipient in Enterprise Technology; as one of, Inc. Magazine’s 30 Under 30 Most Brilliant Young Founders; and listed among Inc Magazine’s 50 Emerging Global Entrepreneurs to Watch. Costello holds a degree in Biomedical Engineering with a minor in Technological Entrepreneurship from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY.

To help accelerate Vital Vio’s growth, the Board also announced that Kristin May joined the company in the newly created position of Vice President for Commercialization, effective June 30th.

May comes to the position with extensive leadership experience in health-related technology commercialization, sales, and delivery. Most recently she led Schenectady, New York-based Ellis Medicine’s strategy for excellence in patient experience, safety, clinical and operational quality outcomes, and regulatory compliance.  Prior to her time with Ellis, May held various management positions with Carestream Health, General Electric Company, and as a partner to Philips Healthcare, where she was responsible for defining and implementing domestic and global growth strategies, increasing market share as well as the overall profitability of various business lines.  May began her career in the General Electric Corporate; Executive Commercial Leadership Program.  She has a degree from Boston University School of Management and is Lean and Sigma, Black Belt Certified.
